MY BIGGEST MUSICAL (AND NON MUSICAL) INFLUENCES

It’s like asking to pick your favourite cheese or child.. I have so many musicians and heros that have helped shaped the way I play, sing and write.

As a kid, there’s three albums that stood out. All vinyal albums owned by my Dad, played over and over.

Age Of Reason : Particulalry the song Two Strong Hearts. John’s voice and Brett’s guitar work. As 6 yr old I fell through a glass table because I was dancing on top of it thinking I was a mixture of John and Brett, and I still have the scar on my knee to prove it.

Elvis Presley - Greatest Hits : Specifically the song Hound Dog. Again, the voice of Elvis and the guitar playing of Scotty Moore.

74’ Jailbreak : Baby Please Don’t Go and Jailbreak. Bons voice and now duelling guitars from Angus and Malcom.

Phenomenal voices, prolific songwriters and soulful blues influenced guitarists are what hits me in the feels the most.

Who inspires me?

Inspiration comes to me in all forms.

Sure, there’s the musical influences, but there’s also the creative artists, dancers, comedians, actors, sports people, my family. Humans with drive, determination and the will to better themselves.

The older I get, the more people I look to for inspiration.

Below is a photo collage I put together which hangs proudly in my studio.
